Course Objective
The Ph.D. Public Health program is designed to achieve the following objectives:
- The purpose is to provide the practical and public health research platform for public health scholars, who can contribute to the field through evidence-based scientific research, and innovations to resolve the public health issues.
- Program is designed to provide specialized knowledge to researchers and enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving, and public health research skills.
- Scholars will have the ability to lead in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs, as well as drive innovations within the healthcare after completing the program.
Course Offerings
- The Max Institute of Medical Education (MIME), an educational division of Max Healthcare Institute Ltd., offers a Ph.D. program in partnership with the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), a nationally recognized institution established by an Act of Parliament.
- The collaboration aims to excel in both academic pursuit and practical relevance. The institute encourages a culture of exceptional dynamism, innovation and public health research.
- The Academy's goal is to produce highly skilled researchers and professionals in the fields of biological sciences and public health.
- This program focuses on equipping scholars with the expertise to innovate and engage in seamless interdisciplinary public health research endeavour.
- The course work of PhD program will be taught by a team of experienced multidisciplinary faculty from reputed public health divisions & various aspects of healthcare. In addition, scholars will get to attend lectures delivered by guest faculty and a pool of national and international acclaimed adjunct faculty. Public health experts & supervisors will be guiding scholars during their Ph.D thesis work.

Who can Enroll
As per AcSIR requirements
- A Master's degree in life Sciences with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade is required for General (UR)/General-EWS candidates. For OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender, and Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates, a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade is necessary.
- Additionally, applicants must hold a valid National level Fellowship (such as JRF/ SRF from funding agencies like CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST) or an equivalent fellowship like DBT-BET, INSPIRE, RGNF.

Evaluations and Grading
As per AcSIR norms
- Continuous evaluation procedure will be carried-out throughout the course work semester through class-tests, assignments, seminars, mid-term and end-semester examinations, etc.
- Research progress assessment by Ph.D. Research Assessment committee at every 3 months interval till the completion of program(duration of program 3-6 years).
- Depending on nature of the research work and progress we will opt for the public viva-voce at the end of program after submission of Ph.D. thesis, its evaluation and approval received from the external examiners and research committee members.
Evaluations will be based on Assessment post course work completion
As per AcSIR norms
- To successfully complete the PhD coursework, a student must achieve a CGPA of 6.5 or higher.
- Performance of the student will be evaluated by two indices, Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
- These will be calculated as follows:
- SGPA={Sum of (Course credit X Numerical value of course grade)} / Total course credits earned in the semester
- CGPA = Cumulative points scored in all passed courses / Cumulative credits earned
- Letter grades will be awarded for each course reflecting the student’s proficiency and instructor’s expectation.
Certification
Successful candidates will be awarded the Ph.D. degree by AcSIR with collaboration of Max Healthcare.
