Course name: American Heart Association certified Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Provider Course

Course objective:
The PALS Provider Course is designed to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies,shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high-performance team dynamics and high-quality individual skills. This course uses precourse preparation, didactic instruction, and active participation in learning stations and simulated cases.
Course offerings:
- Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED in Pediatric and Infant Patients.
- Recognition and early management of respiratory, shock and cardiac arrest emergencies.
- Recognition and early management of Peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia, Tachycardia.
- Airway management
- Related pharmacology
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team
Who can enrol:
For healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of respiratory and/or cardiovascular emergencies and cardiopulmonary arrest in Pediatric patients. This includes personnel like Pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners,paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.
- Candidate should have Active AHA certified BLS provider course certificate.

Evaluations and Grading:
To successfully complete this course and receive your PALS course completion card,
students must do the following as per AHA norms:
- Participation in the classroom course, including completion of all learning and skill stations
- Pass the written exam with a minimum score of 84%
- Passing the 1- and 2-Rescuer Child BLS with AED and 1- and 2-Rescuer Infant BLS Skills Tests
- Passing 2 PALS core case scenarios (1 cardiac and 1 respiratory or shock),providing appropriate medical treatment and demonstrating effective team dynamics
Evaluations will be based on Assessment post course completion:
- Written exam and skills test
