 Course Overview

Max Healthcare, in partnership with Learna — a specialist provider of postgraduate online medical education — is pleased to offer this Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes, designed for practising healthcare professionals seeking to advance their expertise in the management of diabetes and its complications.

Validated by the University of South Wales, delivered through Learna’s flexible online learning platform and enriched by a clinical observership at Max Healthcare, the programme combines rigorous academic study with direct exposure to one of India’s foremost specialist clinical environments. Participants progress through seven structured modules covering the full breadth of modern diabetes care, from precision diagnosis and personalised management through to technology-enabled approaches and the management of acute and long-term complications. The programme is designed to fit around professional commitments and to support clinicians in translating learning directly into practice.

Complementing the virtual module developed by experienced diabetology experts, the clinical observership at Max Healthcare gives participants the opportunity to observe and engage with clinical practice at the highest level — experiencing complex diabetes cases, multidisciplinary team working, and advanced treatment assays. The observership, of at least a month, can be availed by candidates at any point in their year-long diploma programme.

 Course Content:
  • Module 1: Precision Diagnosis of Diabetes Types
  • Module 2: Personalised Diabetes Care
  • Module 3: Personalised Diabetes Management - Pharmacology
  • Module 4: Personalised Diabetes Management - Technology
  • Module 5: Acute Complications & Microvascular Complications
  • Module 6: Macrovascular Complications
  • Module 7: Observership at Max Healthcare — Clinical Placement and Experiential Learning
Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes participants will be able to:

  • Have developed clinical knowledge progressively through carefully designed case-based learning, with foundational concepts introduced and applied through real-world clinical scenarios
  • Have engaged in interactive, discussion-led learning guided by expert tutors through peer collaboration and applied case analysis across each module
  • Have built capacity for critical thinking and evidence-based practice in diabetes care
  • Have benefited from a clinical observership at Max Healthcare, reinforcing and contextualising academic learning within a high-acuity clinical environment
  • Be equipped to manage the full spectrum of diabetes care with greater confidence, clinical rigour, and professional authority
 Evaluations and Grading:

Assessment within this programme is designed to reflect real-world clinical practice. Through Learna’s online platform, participants engage with case-based discussions, structured reflection, and applied clinical scenarios across each module — mirroring the diagnostic and decision-making challenges of everyday cardiology. Each week, participants work through two to three clinical cases in an online forum environment, guided by an expert clinical tutor. Forum contributions and written assignments form the basis of assessment, complemented by the experiential learning gained during the Max Healthcare observership. Active and regular participation is expected, with approximately two hours of study per day recommended. Support is available throughout via Learna’s dedicated student services team.

Assessment breakdown:

  • Academic Forum: 40%
  • Module Assignment: 20%
  • Reflective Journal: 10%
  • Case-based Examination: 30%
Who Can Enroll:

This programme is open to registered healthcare professionals holding a first degree (MBBS or above) or equivalent in a relevant clinical field, including international qualifications. Applicants without a recognised undergraduate qualification may be considered on an individual basis, with prior professional experience taken into account. In some cases, applicants may be asked to complete a short assessment to confirm their ability to engage at postgraduate level and demonstrate the necessary clinical and professional knowledge. Applications are reviewed by the Max Healthcare and Learna admissions teams.

  • A copy of your updated CV including your address and date of birth.
  • A copy of your undergraduate (MBBS) degree certificate.
  • The name and email address of someone who is able to provide a reference, this can be a work colleague, employer or former tutor.
