The program is designed around the principle that participants must be able to recognise deterioration early, initiate stabilization immediately, manage common paediatric emergencies and lead the initial resuscitation of a critically ill child.

The clinical framework is aligned with the 2025 AHA/AAP paediatric BLS and PALS science, WHO Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment principles, and contemporary Emergency Medicine competency frameworks. The current AHA/AAP PALS guidance specifically covers paediatric resuscitation, shock, airway management, arrhythmias and post-cardiac-arrest care, while WHO ETAT emphasizes rapid identification and immediate treatment of children with emergency signs.
